Find a path that fits.

As you explore your career options – and consider accounting as a possibility – you’re bound to have questions. What is it? What are the opportunities? What jobs might be available? And do you have what it takes to succeed?

Here at Mueller Prost, we’ve designed a two-day summer program to help you get answers to these questions. We’ll help you find a path that fits with your personality and your goals, and perhaps even open doors to internships or job opportunities with us in the future.

The Ascent Summer Leadership Program changed the way I presented myself.

Missy Caplin

Intern, Summer 2019

Here’s what to expect.

Leaders and associates from key areas of our firm will introduce you to how the industry works – and how our firm fits into it. At the end of the session, you’ll walk away with:

  • Networking skills, thanks to one-on-one interactions with Mueller Prost staff.
  • In-depth knowledge about different public accounting specialties.
  • Real-world perspective from our clients, through in-person meetings, facility tours and more.
  • Volunteer experience, live and in person at one of our not-for-profit clients.
  • Lessons and tips from our staff, who will share what they’ve learned – and what they wish they knew when they were starting.
  • Insight into your strengths from an assessment tool.

It’s an intense two days, but previous attendees have walked away with a clear sense of how they might fit (or, truly, might not fit) into this business.

How to apply.

The Ascent Summer Leadership Program is designed for college students who are currently enrolled as sophomores, juniors or seniors during the 2020-2021 school years, and are considering accounting as a career path and major.

Your application packet should include:

  • An updated resume and cover letter that expresses interest in the program.
  • A 500-word essay that addresses one (1) of these topics:
    • What do you hope to know, be able to do, or become as a result of your experience in this program?
    • Why are you interested in pursuing a career in public accounting and what skills do you have that will serve you and your firm well?
    • What does leadership mean to you and what experiences have you had that shape your definition of leadership?
    • What is one of the most significant events in your life that has helped shape who you are today?

Email your application to us no later than March 12, 2021 with the subject line Ascent Summer Leadership Program.

We’ll evaluate your application based on your current leadership activities and academic achievement, and your involvement in community or extracurricular activities. Final participant selections will be notified no later than March 26, 2021.  A detailed agenda will be available in late April 2021.
