New Measure Added to QASP

June 28, 2018

Recently, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) added a new measure to the Quality and Accountability Supplemental Payment Program (QASP) for the 18-19 performance period. Beginning July 1, 2018, the Antipsychotic Medication Usage Long Stay measure will be included in the calculation of the QASP awards.

The Antipsychotic Medication Usage Long Stay measure for QASP differs from the 5-Star Quality Measure. For QASP, the measure excludes the use of antipsychotic medication in the cases of traumatic brain injury, manic depression and psychotic disorder. The details of this new measure can be found here.

In addition to adding a measure, CDPH has retired the Physical Restraints Long Stay measure from the calculation of the QASP awards beginning July 1, 2018.
